Fun for Families in Raleigh North Carolina

If you find yourself in Raleigh, North Carolina, welcome! Raleigh is a vibrant and family-friendly city that offers a plethora of exciting activities, mouthwatering eateries, and captivating destinations for everyone to enjoy. Growing up around the area, the owners of Moss and Pine have had the opportunity to explore the best family-friendly things to do, places to eat, and places to visit around Raleigh.

Raleigh has so many things to do. One of our favorite outside activities is Pullen ParkA day at Pullen Park is a must for families with  children of all ages. This picturesque park is filled with delightful activities, including a historic carousel, indoor pool, paddle boats on the lake, and a mini-train ride that circles the park. Don't worry about bringing lunch because the Pullen Park Cafe is a family owned establishment with delicious food.

Another incredible set of parks in the Raleigh area are White Deer and Lake Benson. Located right across the street from each other in Garner, these two parks are a popular spot for hosting parties, outdoor family pictures, and hanging out on the playgrounds. There are walking trails, a lake for pups to swim in, and a plethora of playground areas.

Adventure Landing offers both indoor and outdoor activities, but it is better suited for families with middle-aged or older children. It is a family fun center featuring miniature golf, go-karts, batting cages, arcade games, and laser tag.

If you're looking for indoor family-friendly fun, then be sure to check out the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. This world-class museum has exhibits on everything from dinosaurs to the human body. There's also a planetarium, an aquarium, and a butterfly house.

Not far from the museum of natural sciences is the Marbles Kids Museum. When we say this place puts other kids museums to shame, we aren't joking! Unleash your children's creativity and curiosity at Marbles with three floors of fun. This hands-on museum offers interactive exhibits, educational programs, and activities that entertain while stimulating young minds. From art and science to music and storytelling, your kids will be engaged for hours on end. There is also an IMAX theater next door.

Another indoor option for family fun with older kids is grabbing a show at the Garner Towne Players theater. Nothing says home town fun like a locally owned theater group. If you have kids interested in acting, I highly recommend getting them involved in Towne Players. As a teen, I acted with the Towne Players in Beauty and the Beast.

If you're a sports fan, go to a game at PNC Arena. This arena is home to the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) and the NC State Wolfpack (NCAA). There are also concerts and other events held at the arena throughout the year. North Carolina is big on family-friendly sporting events. The Carolina Mudcats minor league baseball is a good time everyone in the family. You can catch their games at the Five County Stadium.

Raleigh is a great place to visit with your family. There are plenty of things to see and do, from exploring museums and historical sites to hiking and biking in the outdoors. With so much to offer, you're sure to have a great time exploring this vibrant city.
